Superstars in the Making

Over the years Superstars in the Making and the Memo Arts Centre have worked in collaboration to co-produce community musicals.

Our first community performance in 2012 was Fame Jr The Musical, and sold out to audiences from as far as Bristol and West Wales. Participants were invited to attend open auditions, and following this the cast was formed to include young performers from Barry, Penarth, Cardiff and as far as Cwmbran.

West-End Star and Patron to Superstars in the Making, Connie Fisher mentors the young performers, and on seeing the show commented; “Fame is without doubt the best community performance I have ever seen”

The 2013 production of Grease The Musical was presented to 1,786 people over three performances. Over 65 talented young people, from across South Wales, took to the stage.

2014 promised to be even bigger, as we presented Hairspray. The production featured over 40 talented people and a professional creative team. The performance was a sell out, selling over 2000 tickets during its run.

The 2015 production West Side Story featured 40 talented young people, an 18-piece orchestra and was a production with rave reviews. This huge Broadway hit was a big challenge that we wanted to take on to demonstrate our storytelling and talent at its finest.

Our most recent production with Superstars in the Making was The Addams Family Musical in 2018.

Audience member comments “As always the singing, dancing and acting was of the high standard that we have come to expect from SITM”.
