CONCERTS AND CAKES; DEMENTIA FRIENDLY MATINEE CONCERTS AT THE MEMO ARTS CENTRE, BARRY
Concerts and Cakes is a new series of matinee concerts at the Memo Arts Centre, fully accessible for people living with Dementia and their carers.
The Memo is working in partnership with Live Music Now, the UK’s leading musicians’ development and outreach charity, who provide exceptional live music experiences to people with limited access to the arts, due to disability, illness or social disadvantage.
Each matinee concert is delivered in relaxed, cabaret style and begins with an informal participatory music session led by Live Music Now musicians. Throughout the concert, audiences will enjoy delightful live music along with tea and cakes.
Concerts and Cakes are truly heart-warming afternoons which bring families and friends together, offer new experiences, and allow many to re-visit memories from the past. Participants benefit from the amazing therapeutic, social and emotional benefits of engaging with live music – an experience that transforms and enriches lives.
The first Concerts and Cakes matinee concert is on Wednesday 16 January at 1:30pm (doors open at 1pm) and is fully accessible, Dementia friendly and open to all.
Tickets for those living with Dementia are just £1, and carers go free. The concerts are also open to those who would enjoy a lovely afternoon of live music, and those tickets are £5.00. All tickets include either a tea or coffee with a delicious slice of cake.
