As an affiliated member of Creu Cymru, and as part of the Wales Dance Consortium, in 2014 the Memo was teamed with Sandra Harnisch-Lacy as our ‘Dance Buddy’.
The Scheme is an innovative programme that places artist-development hand-in-hand with audience-development, the scheme pairs up independent dance artists with a theatre or arts centre in co-mentoring partnership – the ultimate aim being an increase in the quantity and quality of Wales-made work available for audiences.
The Memo has provided R&D space for two new Harnisch-Lacey Dance Theatre pieces (SPIN and TAN) and company workshops. HLDT offer a wide ranging education and outreach programme and relate directly to current and past performance works and themes of these productions. The Memo and HLDT are working towards providing more company workshops at the Memo for young dancers in the Vale of Glamorgan. Company workshops are aimed to provide an opportunity for participants to learn new skills, be creative and develop their own choreographic skills, as well as work with company dancers.
About Harnisch-Lacey Dance Theatre: HLDT is committed to producing high quality original dance theatre, integrating and combining cross genre dance, music, theatre and film; and thereby challenging existing notions of stage and performance spaces. HLDT’s work offers audiences the opportunity to embark on their own personal experience.
