Want digital cinema in Barry? Want to see the latest films? We’re working on it!

We love film at the Memo, and know how important it is to have a local cinema back in Barry. Since January 2013, our new film programme CINE-MEMO has presented 76 films on the biggest screen in the Vale of Glamorgan.
Our film programme has become loved by many, and now we are calling all film lovers to help us with our important fundraising campaign, which will bring all we need into the venue to make the best cinema experience possible. This will enable the Memo to show the latest blockbusters in Barry as new releases and show live streaming events, including West End shows, national ballets, operas and major events, so our lovely old Memo has what it takes to be Barry’s Digital Cinema.

Our fundraising campaign titled LOVE FILM? WE DO TOO! #BARRYCINEMEMO, aims to raise the match funding we need to put towards our potential grant from the Arts Council Wales Lottery, who have selected the Memo to bid for a grant from their Digital Cinema conversion scheme.
If successful the £150,000 investment will enable the Memo to make much needed refurbishments and purchase state-of-the-art digital projection equipment, including a fantastic new roll down cinema screen with automated masking, and install dynamic surround sound equipment to deliver a dynamic Digital Cinema for all who live in Barry, Wales’s largest town, to use and enjoy.

To make all this possible, we are calling on the people of Barry for their support to help us raise our match funding target of £75,000. For the price of a £5.00 cinema ticket, your donation will help bring the latest in cinema and live streaming to Barry by spring 2015.

To donate £5, please text MEM015 £5 to 70070. Your continued support and donations will help us to make the only local cinema experience better.
